How do I remove rubberized carpet padding which is stuck to my wood floor?

Question by Gene M: How do I remove rubberized carpet padding which is stuck to my wood floor?
I removed my carpets in preparation to sand and refinish my wood floors however, the carpet pad which has a rubberized texture has adhered to the wood flooring and is very difficult to scrape off. Any hints for removing the padding without damaging the wood floors will be appreciated.
Thank you.

Using your hairdryer on relatively low heat will loosen the rubber pad. You can scrape carefully as you go along with a plastic scraper. I have done this with rubber pad and carpet tape as well. No damage to the floor.

First scrape as much off as you can with a plastic scraper so you don’t damage the wood. Then use either Goo Gone or DeSolve It. DeSolve It is made from citrus oil and won’t hurt the wood. I’m not sure what the ingredients for Goo Gone are.
    Good luck with this project.

About all you can do is scrape it. Scrape in the direction of the boards. It should be stapled down and with w stand up floor scraper you should get it. I can t imagine it being glued down for any reason. It sounds as if it was just a cheaper foam pad and it will stick a bit. Even if you put a few scratches in it , you have to sand it and that will take those out GL
