Question by : What can i use to protect a carpet after cleaning it?
Im going to machine clean my carpet and i use to use a carpet shield spray to protect it afterwards. This product has now been band due to chemicals. What else can i use and is it really necessary.

When I used a carpet extractor, it took the carpet stains out really well but was too much work so I bought a steam cleaner. It works well but doesn’t get the stains out as well. The carpet is a lot lighter after steam cleaning but how can I pretreat the carpet so I can get the stains out the first try?

Prevacuum the area to be cleaned, taking care to remove as much dry particulate (insoluble soil) as possible. Water extraction is performed to remove water-soluble soil that cannot easily be removed with daily vacuuming. Detergents, used in the carpet cleaning process, attempt to emulsify these non-water soluble particulates, thus reducing carpet cleaning effectiveness. ·
Following thorough vacuuming, apply an alkaline prespray detergent directly to the face fiber. Prespray detergents typically require 8-10 minutes of dwell time to begin emulsifying and suspending soil. Extracting the solution before allowing adequate dwell time will reduce carpet cleaning effectiveness.

Agitate the area with a pile rake or mechanical agitation. NEVER USE A ROTARY BONNET for mechanical agitation. Agitation will assist the detergent solution in lifting soil from the fiber and dramatically enhance carpet cleaning results.

The carpet in our lobby at work needs a cleaning, and other than a “Rug Doctor” type thing a couple of times, it hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned in years. Which method gets it cleaner? If it makes a difference, we’re in AZ so things dry well here.
Folks, I’m not getting the cheap ones at the store, I need a professional cleaning, just trying to get your experiences as to whether truck-mounted steam cleaning or the dry method is better.
Again, it would be professional truck-mounted steam cleaning, not an amateur job.

My “carpet guy” came to clean my carpets before Christmas and all he used was a pink cleaning solution in a spray bottle and a scrub brush. At one point I even got down on my hands and knees and helped him it looked so easy. (and it was.) When I asked him what was in the bottle, he said that it was a trade secret. Now I am dying to know! I want some to use myself, we have 4 children, so you can imagine the spots we encounter!

As for the ”pink” cleaning solution every carpet cleaning company usus different but a friend of mine works for stanley steamer as says to put straight peroxide in a spray bottle and scrub with a brush do the same as your carpet cleaner did but use peroxide you will be as surprised on how it cleans!!!! good luck ley me know how it works…
